Occupy Anniversary Special: Highlights, Pitfalls & the Shifting of Public Consciousness

On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on the tragic mass shooting that took place in Washington, DC, posing the question of how many more mass shootings will it take to finally have a debate fueled by reality and not politics. Abby then remarks on the second anniversary of Occupy Wall Street, highlighting a recent Reuters poll showing that only 15% of Americans are satisfied with the government's effort to prosecute Wall Street bankers, and speaks with former Philadelphia police captain Ray Lewis about why he chose to protest in-uniform at Occupy. Abby then looks back at the successes and shortcomings of the Occupy movement featuring a panel discussion between RT correspondents Anastasia Churkina, Ramon Galindo and BTS Producer, Manuel Rapalo. BTS wraps up the show with a personal tribute to Occupy, remarking on how the movement isn't dead, because shifting the public consciousness is not something that ever goes away.
