On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on the latest cases of police brutality in the US, calling attention to Charlotte police killing 24 year old football player Jonathan Ferrell and the NYPD's slaying of an unarmed man near Times Square (and shooting of two by-standers). Abby then talks to John Feal, founder and president of the Feal Good Foundation, about the plight of 9/11 first responders who continue to seek compensation for cancers they are contracting at a 15 percent higher rate than the general population.
Abby then looks back at the signing of the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) as the catalyst for America's global War on Terror, and highlights U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee as the lone voice who opposed the legislation following the 9/11 attacks. BTS wraps up the show with an interview with former US Attorney General, Ramsey Clark, discussing Iraq before the first Gulf War, his opinions on Syria, why he provided legal representation to Saddam Hussein, and how US sanctions have a far greater negative effect on people than on the regimes of the countries these sanctions target.
