To make a long story short: we got it. Mrs. S and I are about to be living in an actual house for the first time in our life together.
We had a few very anxious hours this morning when it appeared that the wire transfer from our bank in Arkansas to the new bank in Texas was LOST! Thank you very much Federal Reserve System. But it was found almost literally at the last possible minute to keep the deal from falling through.
I am happy to say that Mrs. S will have a commute of barely 20 miles -- round-trip.
It will be Monday before I know the details of exactly when the physical moving will commence, but it now seems that we may have a few more days to accomplish it than first thought.
So we are ready to catch our breath now, relax and maybe celebrate a bit this weekend. It would be nice if my son wasn't going to be five or six hundred miles away on Fathers' Day.
Anyway, the only cloud in our skies right now is some pretty dramatic "sticker-shock" from the $700 or so that we are facing for utilities deposits.
A big thank you from both of us for all the good wishes and positive thoughts!

congratulations ! wishing you a smooth and easy move
good to hear!
hope your AC works well as its going to be 100 for the next week.
Great stuff!....funny how the bank can "lend" £1000's in a heartbeat, but actual "earned money" is always very scarce when called on...had exactly that happen when we moved last, glad you sorted it and alls good.
