Breaking the Set No. 215 -- 2013 Aug 01 TH

Corporate Scandal Profits, America's Warped Priorities, Creepy Hacking Technologies

On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin remarks on the unfortunate irony that in light of Facebook and Halliburton's recent scandals their stocks actually went up, in comparison to the publics' trust in government going down. Abby then talks about the amount of money squandered by the US government in bailing out corporations, propping up foreign militaries and maintaining its 900 bases worldwide, while retorting at the idea of helping distressed local economies in the US. Abby then talks to BTS Producer, Manuel Rapalo, about the vast reach of the surveillance state from accessing network grids, to the how every device is capable of being hacked and used as a surveillance tool. BTS wraps up the show with an interview with actor and director, and co-host of 'Buzzsaw' Sean Stone, about the clash of civilizations, misconceptions about Islam and Iran, and the role Hollywood and the corporate media play in perpetuating Islamophobia.
