Alex and Charlie and Twitter and Me

This will be mostly just a collection of observations, occasioned by a bout of especially virulent insomnia.

A timeline ::

February 24, 2011
In the words of Paul Joseph Watson and Alex Jones, Charlie Sheen makes a "wild and rampaging appearance on The Alex Jones Show".

March 1, 2011
Charlie sets up a Twitter account and posts his first "tweet".

March 2, 2011
25 hours and 17 minutes after establishing the account, Sheen had a million followers, setting a new record for the shortest time to one million .

March 8, 2011
As I write this, Charlie's followers count is 2,202,541.

A different timeline ::

Initial use of the realalexjones Twitter account --
"Welcome to our first official tweet in the Infowar." -Alex Jones This is my official perch.

"Alex Jones Invades Twitter," article published on Infowars.com, written by Paul Joseph Watson. In the article, Watson alleges:
Contrary to reports, it was not solely CNN host Piers Morgan that convinced Sheen to sign up to Twitter this past weekend. During a visit to Sheen’s home more than three weeks ago, Alex Jones convinced the actor to start his own Twitter account.
For the record, charliesheen follows piersmorgan and HowardStern, but does not follow realalexjones.

Watson reveals:
But Jones is guilty of not following his own advice – Infowars has a Twitter account at http://twitter.com/realalexjones – but we’ve hardly even promoted it, let alone used it in the Infowar to start viral hash tags or indeed invade those memes already circulating with the message of truth.

That’s all about to change in a dramatic way – we are launching a new offensive in the Infowar to literally invade Twitter with the truth about the new world order and the myriad of issues we face as a society, not by competing with the drivel served up by the establishment entertainment industry, but by hijacking it and using the establishment’s own weapons against them to reach new people as we were successful in doing via Jones’ appearance on The View and the whole Charlie Sheen bandwagon over the course of the last eight days.

We are looking to achieve at least 100,000 Twitter followers within the next week, and will use that as a platform from which to launch our new offensive.
Alex also mentioned in his broadcast that day that his goal was to have 100,000 in one week.
[Goal date = Friday, March 11].

I do not have an exact figure, but as of March 4, realalexjones had approximately 20,000 followers.

March 8, 2011.
As I write this, realalexjones has 28,085 followers.

First tweet posted on the Sebaygo1 Twitter account --
Alex Jones Show going into overDrive today; unfortunately that means Jones and Rivero will be uploaded later than usual

I used the account something like a couple of times per week for a couple of months and then largely let it languish.

This month I have been using it more, but I'm not going to make any high-powered predictions such as that it's "all about to change in a dramatic way," or that I am going to "literally invade Twitter". I do, however, think I have more of a clear plan as to how I want to use Twitter.

If you know much of anything about this blog, you know what I use it for -- to aid in the dissemination of alternative news/commentary... to help make available to anyone and everyone information and voices that the elites and the mainstream corporate media would prefer to suppress.

But there was more blogging that I wanted to do. I created Sebaygo Too with the intention of posting stories there that I just HAD to share with someone. But it seems time has not allowed me to do much there... to my chronic disappointment.

Twitter has always been described as a "microblogging application," and was used in that fashion well before it began to become a fashion accessory for celebrity vanity. The time invested in composing, editing, formatting "blog posts" becomes irrelevant on Twitter. If there's something you want to share, you can -- immediately -- so long as you can squeeze it into 140 characters.

So I hope to use Twitter to share more news, more under-reported stories. I don't want to just post for posting's sake. There are a lot of news aggregators on the net -- Infowars, Drudge, WhatReallyHappened, etc., etc. -- and I don't have the time or resources to compete with them. And goodness knows there are lots of stories that seem to appear on all of them simultaneously.

What I will try to share are stories where it seems I might be a little ahead of the herd, or simply stories that seem to me to be so important that the repetition and redundancy are worth starting the maximum number of brush fires in the minds of the people.

I'm not shutting down Sebaygo2. I hope to still use it in some appropriate fashion. Time will tell. For now, if you are not one of the multitude already following Sebaygo1 on Twitter [that would be a grand total of six], please take a look.

Thanks for your patience. Hope this is at least marginally readable.
