Israel-Gaza Ceasefire: Hamas And Israel Reportedly Agree To Truce starting now
Israel and the Islamist militant group Hamas agreed on Wednesday to a Gaza ceasefire deal, said a Palestinian official with knowledge of Egyptian mediation between the two sides.
The official declined to be named or to give further information.
On the TV conference just held, Hillary (looking less than happy) conceded that Egypt is taking the lead on this process. Her attempt to grandstand this seems to have failed. Hoist with own petard. Since US (obedient to Israel) refuses to recognize HAMAS as the elected government of Gaza, Hillary had no diplomatic connection to negotiate, and no real business being there other than for photo ops.
No mention of lifting the blockade, and of course, based on history, Israel will try to find a way to break the cease fire and blame HAMAS for it.
Netanyahu has suffered a huge political defeat. Israel's agreement with HAMAS is a tacit acceptance that they are the legitimate government of Gaza.
If elections go ahead in January, he and Likud may be toast. Netanyahu's own military and cabinet oppose an attack on Iran as likely to fail (even more so now that HAMAS has survived Israel's latest onslaught), so Netanyahu's only recourse is to find a way to get the US to attack Iran for him.
So I am clocking this cease fire with an egg timer.

There was an interview on Fox News with Robert De Niro as the guest. The host asked Robert about events related to Gaza.
Robert replied: "Why do we blame Israel or the Israelis for what they do?"
The host was shocked because he knows that De Niro is always declaring his sympathy with Palestine.
De Niro looked at the host and saw his confusion........so he continued:
"Ok let me explain, if you were bitten by a mad infected dog, who will you blame? the dog or its owner? Definitely the owner, so, all the blame is on the USA Government's shoulders for adopting and supporting a state like Israel"

Member of Hamas's political bureau Ezzat Al-Resheq said that Egypt still cannot broker a truce deal ending the military aggression against the Gaza Strip because the Israeli government has not responded to the proposals.
