Many, if not all of you, have noticed that nothing is showing up in the "Recent Comments" section of the right column. It's not a matter of you not being able to see them. They're not there, thanks to a problems that Google/Blogger is having... again.
The same problem arose a few weeks ago, but was fixed within a couple of days or so. At that time I didn't look into it, but today I visited Blogger's help forum and picked up a little information about what's going on.
There is a specific object for Blogger gadgets called google.Blog that holds a bunch of information about each blog (so that users don't have to enter it during gadget setup, stuff like the blog's URL and the URL to its feeds). That object has suddenly stopped working for some reason. The developers group at Blogger have been aware of the problem since sometime yesterday, but I can find no statement from them, or anyone at Blogger, about why this has broken again and how long it may be before it is fixed.
[The 'recent comments'] gadget stopped working because it needs to know the posts feed URL of your blog from the google.Blog object, but when it looks for that URL, it doesn't find it.
So, for now, patience is in order. There is nothing I can do short of migrating the blog to another platform, and I would not like to think about packing up 630+ posts and hauling them somewhere else! LOL
