As you may know, Texas has been having a literally unprecedented drought for many months. Here we have had less than an inch of rain since May. We are being blessed with some fairly surprising thundershowers this afternoon (about a 20% chance forecast). The first one arrived about 90 minutes ago and was accompanied by a LOT of lightning. There was a fairly widespread power outage for 30 minutes or so. Mrs. S and I were out at our local WalMart when it hit. We're home now but another, potentially more severe storm is just now moving in. I'm shutting down the computer until it's over. Hopefully will be back and working in an hour or so.

We survived it. The second storm turned out to be actually not as strong (in terms of lighning activity at least) as the first. We are incredibly grateful for every drop of rain. All we need now is another 18-20 inches to catch up... but not all at once please.
